Automatic Backwash Carbon System

These carbon backwash systems are ideal for water with odor or bad taste.  Usually installed after a water softener, they work to 'polish' your water leaving it sparkling clean and odor free.  The Fleck 5600 backwash valve that resides on top of the unit lifts and separates the internal carbon each night, (or less depending on how you set it), removing the iron and various suspended particles.  This process helps to extend the life of the carbon which can last from 1-7 years relative to water usage (average life is 2-5 yrs).  After that, when the odor or taste starts to return, simply replace the carbon in the tank, and continue to enjoy the fresh clean water this system provides.  Please note that this unit is primarily for the removal of bad taste/odor problems resulting from chlorine and other contaminates.
